Haap is delighted to start  this issue by passing on some breaking news to you .

Following a series of meetings and work with Claire Curtis Thomas MP and Lord

Freddy Howe we are delighted to tell you that we have been led to believe that

the Home Affairs Select Committee will be an-nouncing a review of its earlier report

into Institutional Abuse in the Autumn of this year .

In a linked move with some assistance the Panel has secured the services of a

leading academic at Cambridge Univer-sity to commence a substantial research

project to provide real and quantifiable challenges to the previous government

response and to deliver one of the most far reaching analysis of the genre of

historical abuse allegations ever undertaken by a defence organization .

We hope to be able to utilize this material and in fact deliver it up for use by both

the Home Affairs Select Committee and the Criminal Cases Review Commission .

Whilst obviously the review by the Select Committee will be linked solely to

institutional abuse we believe the research will ultimately go wider and also

benefit those who face more general historical allegations .

To get to this stage has not been easy and has required much behind the

scene activity .It has been astounding to us how cer-tain elements have

started to assume we were sitting back on our laurels .

Well here is your answer we have been doing nothing of the kind and the

pressure is now on us to complete this work over the summer and early autumn .

We are looking forward to the  research project and the findings that might flow

from it with an expectation that it may achieve a great deal for the cause from a

source of the highest integrity .

And of course events haven’t stopped there . We were delighted to be able to

help the teams of George Anderson and Margaret Hewitt in their successful appeal

against conviction which saw all convictions quashed over a 2 week appeal hearing .

We are confident any suggestion of a re-trial will be rebut-ted and look forward to

seeing George and Margaret at a Forthcoming FACT Meeting .

    Welcoming Message

Good evening . This is the start of my blog !

For sometime now we have maintained our site at www.appealpanel.org and we felt it was time to create a vehicle to keep you upto date with our views on a weekly basis .

The aim of the blog is therefore for me as Director of HAAP to let you know whats going on , express views on developments in the Justice Campaign and hopefully stimulate some debate on these serious issues .

TO get things going I will issue several blogs this week on some fundamental things that are on going .

Finally for those who do not know who we are visit our website . We are a group of concerned Solicitors and Barristers coming together to assist those wrongfully convicted or accused of false allegations of historical abuse . We like the Home Affiars Select Committee believe there has been a genuine new genre of miscarriage created .

Sadly fueled by all of our fears about individuals who genuinely engage in child abuse who of course should face the full rigors of the law .

What we want to achieve is that those who genuinely are abusers are tackled but that the false industry that has been created over such allegations is stopped and many good men and women are returned home .
